International Marconi Day is a 24-hour amateur radio event held each year to celebrate Marconi's birth on 25 April 1874. This event is usually held on the Saturday closest to Marconi's birthday. This year, that date falls on 24 April.
For some years now, the UBA has been participating in the IARU HF Championship, whereby it is attempted to give UBA sections the opportunity to activate a frequency band (slot) in CW or SSB (with one or more stations).
This year major commemorations are planned to commemorate the landing of the Allies in Normandy. On June 6th, it will have been 75 years ago that the impetus was given for the destruction of the totalitarian Nazi regime.
