For some years now, the UBA has been participating in the IARU HF Championship, whereby it is attempted to give UBA sections the opportunity to activate a frequency band (slot) in CW or SSB (with one or more stations). Since the contest will be contested on 160 to 10m, 12 stations with the call OPØHQ must be activated.
Each national division affiliated to IARU can participate in this contest with a call with the HQ suffix, which stands for Head Quarter. Currently the 12 slots are allocated to the following UBA sections.

(1) WHC = White Horse Contesters
Building on the great result of 2019, it is tried to do this to some extent with the same group to keep everyone on board, although this is not so obvious and consideration should be given to spreading the event out more, including more sections in the future. So it was a question of asking and planning early enough in 2020. It is obvious that UBA tries to be as competitive as possible and therefore will be active with experienced contesters flanked by youngsters from a well-developed station with suitable antennas and an output stage up to a maximum of 1500 W. With almost 10,000 QSOs (good for 9,530,523 points) made in 2019, UBA with OPØHQ finished 16th last year, well ahead of larger countries such as the USA and the Netherlands.
The contest will take place during the weekend of 11 and 12 July 2020, from 12:00 UTC to 11:59 UTC, so for 24 hours. In order to compete with big countries like France, Germany, Spain etc. where some of them organize a national sprint contest at the same time, UBA asks our Belgian OM and YL's to make as many connections as possible with OP0HQ especially on the lower bands 40/80 and 160 in both modes. Please follow the announcements on the DXClusters.
