Section MWV: presentation on 14 October 2022
Svalbard, also known as Spîtsbergen, is a Norwegian archipelago about halfway between the northern coast of Norway and the North Pole. Several islands lie between 74° and 81°N and 10° to 25°E.
The largest island is Spitsbergen. The biggest settlement is Longyearbyen.
From 19 to 26 April 2022 the mainly Belgian, 15-headed amateur radio team was active on HF with JW0X. And on QO-100 with JW100QO. (QO-100 is the first geostationary amateur radio satellite). The activation of QO-100 from Spitsbergen was unique, nobody had been out from that location before. And considering the very low elevation of the antenna, quite a challenge.
But more about this DXpedition I will gladly let Francis, ON8AZ, who was there from the first row, tell me.
It was one of the most beautiful, if not THE most beautiful expedition this year.
So be there on 14 October in the parish hall cafe next to the MWV club house.
