The World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) 2018 will take place on the weekend of July 14 and 15 with teams of radio amateurs, each composed of two operators representing their country in a battle for skills and operational strategy in field day conditions. This year, two Belgian operators and members of the UBA will be present: Léo OR2F and Pascal ON5RA.
This competition takes place only once every four years. The previous edition was held in the United States. This year the competition will take place in Germany. The conditions are similar to those for Olympic athletes, both mentally and physically over a 24-hour period. Each team will have similar equipment available and their QTH is in a similar geographical area. Teams from around the world have had to win qualifications in various events over the past three years.
As described above, it is a contest in Fieldday mode: the contest aims to be an experiment in the form of a laboratory of advanced technologies and innovative experiences, as one knows in the world of motor sports, or in major sailing competitions around the world. The teams participating in the WRTC also aim to contact as many stations as possible around the world in SSB and CW within the IARU HF World Championship.
