As part of the integration of the 112 dispatch system into provincial crisis centers and emergency response stations, a delegation from B-EARS LUX was welcomed at COZILUX by Captain Martin and Lieutenant Eric Fontaine to plan the installation of an antenna and its coaxial cable.
As with other sites, we must take the radio environment into account, so a “site survey” will need to be conducted to reassure other operators on site. The use of low-PIM equipment (due to the presence of other transmitters) is required. Our team, which practices our hobby using various measurement devices such as the Spectrum analyzer, will also be called upon.
A meticulous installation is essential: although there are no permanent transmitters operating on our bands at this site, strict transmission filtering is indispensable. It is equally crucial to protect the reception chain of our VHF and UHF transmitters to avoid any risk of desensitization caused by our own equipment.
This is an opportunity to demonstrate our true role as technicians, far beyond that of mere users.
