The flea market is a service of the UBA to its members: a place to sell, exchange or give away second-hand amateur radio equipment, or to find it.
Who may place an ad
- Only UBA members whose membership is in order, and only for equipment of their own. A member who places an ad for equipment belonging to somebody who is not a member is excluded from the flea market.
What may be offered
- Ads must relate to amateur radio.
- Transmitting equipment may only be offered when it conforms to the licence of the advertiser.
- CB equipment is not accepted.
- Commercial ads are not accepted. To place a commercial advertisement, contact our advertising manager at advertising@uba.be, who will give you all the information you need.
How to write an ad
- Describe the item and its condition honestly. Photos must show the item itself.
- Do not use photos protected by someone else's copyright: only photos you took yourself, or that you are allowed to use.
- Do not put an e-mail address, phone number or other contact details in the title, the description or the photos. Buyers contact you through the form on your ad; your e-mail address is never shown. You may add a phone number in the field meant for it, which only members see.
How long an ad stays
- An ad stays online for 90 days. You receive a reminder 7 days before it expires and can then extend it for another 90 days.
- You can have at most 10 ads online at the same time.
- Mark your ad as sold as soon as it is, and withdraw it when the item is no longer available.
The order of the list
- The newest ads come first, by the date they were placed. Editing or extending an ad does not move it up. An expired ad that you republish starts again at the top.
- Withdrawing an ad and placing it again to get back to the top is not allowed. The site keeps such an ad at its original place, and repeated attempts can lead to the ad being blocked.
Moderation
- The UBA may block an ad that does not respect these rules. Repeated abuse leads to exclusion from the flea market.
Responsibility
- The UBA is not responsible for any consequence of an ad: neither for errors or omissions in its text, nor for the quality of the equipment offered, nor for any breach of the telecommunications law or any other legal provision by the person who placed the ad or the person who answers it.
- The radio amateur whose callsign appears on the ad is solely responsible for it.
Your privacy
- Your e-mail address is never shown. A buyer writes to you through the form on the ad and you receive the message by e-mail; your address reaches them only when you reply.
- Messages sent through the flea market are kept for 180 days to fight abuse, then deleted.
- Ended ads are deleted, with their photos, 180 days after they end; withdrawn ads after 30 days.
Attention!
We sometimes receive complaints from buyers misled about the condition of what they bought. Once the sale is made, the seller answers "sold is sold", and that the buyer should have tested the equipment before buying it — which is true. The UBA cannot take sides in such disputes. Our only advice: always test a device before paying for it, and be careful with requests to pay in advance to someone you do not know, or to ship to an unknown address. Prefer handing over in person, for instance at a section meeting.
