  OR4ESA is the temporary special callsign for the activation at the  European Space Agency (ESA) - Redu Site and Satellite Tracking Station in Redu, Belgium.  (Grid locator: JO20na)

      

We will be on the air only from the 17th of January until the 6th of February 2018.

Isabelle Weykmans, Ministerin für Kultur, Beschäftigung und Tourismus der Deutschsprachigen Gemeinschaft Belgiens, hat gestern der UBA die offizielle Urkunde überreicht zur Aufnahme der Morsezeichen und der Morsetelegraphie in das Register des immateriellen Kulturerbes der DG.

Cerificate of recognition

Isabelle Weykmans, Minister for culture, employment and tourism for the german-speaking government of Belgium, has presented to the UBA the official cerificate for the recognition of Morseocde and Morsetelegraphy as immaterial cultural heritage by the DG.


BAFARA Activity Week-end 2017

The Belgian Air Force Amateur Radio Association invites all members of the amateur radio community to take part in this event.

Date: 21, 22 & 23 July 2017.
Target : Promoting the BAFARA to the radio-amateur community world-wide.
Operation : Activation in all modes on all frequency bands.

First World War- Visit the city of Mesen/Messines

We invite all Amateur Radio operators and their families to visit the city of Mesen/Messines beginning of July 2017. Mesen/Messines is the place in whose surroundings the Battle of the Mines took place one hundred years ago, on 7 June 1917, a battle that marked a turning point in the war.

Roger ON6WU SKON6WU, Roger Vermet, passed away unexpectedly on May 8th. He was 69. 
Roger was "a professional antenna man", he worked for a "major cable network in Belgium" and after retiring was always available for lectures or technical help.

IARU LogoNot only the The Belgian national soccer team is playing an important role on the international stage. Belgium has also an excellent amateur radio contest team on HF. This team will participate again in the IARU World Championship Contest on 9th and 10th of July 2016 with the special call OP0HQ.


OP prefix for all Belgian radio-amateurs for the month of November

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of World War 1, the UBA received authority from the BIPT for all Belgian Radio-amateurs to use the special OP prefix instead of the usual ON prefix, during the month of November 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018.

OT2ØØGBN - Journal of the Waterloo Campaign

To commemorate the crossing of the river Dender from Schendelbeke to Onkerzele and the inspection of troops in Onkerzele, the UBA (Belgian Amateur Radio Society) section Geraardsbergen (Grammont) will deploy a special event shortwave amateur radio station at the location where the inspection of troops was held in 1815. The call sign used will be OT2ØØGBN.
 
  • On Friday, May 29th, 2015 the special event station will be operating in Morse code on Shortwave 3-28MHz from Schendelbeke.
  • On Saturday, May 30th, 2015 there will be Voice operations on shortwave 3-28MHz from the town of Onkerzele, from the same location where the inspection of troops took place (now part of ‘De Gavers’ recreation area). 
 
The special event operation is a token of appreciation of the Belgian amateur radio operators for the British and their support in liberating Belgium of French rule in 1815.


 
ANZAC Day op 25 april 2015

On Saturday 25 April it is exactly 100 years ago that the Australian and NewZealand Army Corps landed in Gallipoli (Turkey) and marched toward Europe during the first World War.
On 28 April the section MWV of UBA will commemorate this event at De Dreve, Lange Dreve 16 in 8980 Zonnebeke. A special event station will operate on HF, VHF and UHF.
