Morse Code - Heritage Day commemorative award

Being one of the most important heritage events in Flanders and Brussels, the 2014 Heritage Day will be held on April 27th. This year’s motto is “without any borders”.

With the slogan “A World of Dits and Dahs” the Belgian IARU Society UBA takes part in this event emphasizing Morse code as cultural heritage.

During the summer of 2014, a youth radio camp “Youngsters on the Air” will be held in Finland, organized by the Finnish Radio Amateur League.
During this week teams of young radio amateurs from 15 different European countries will be participating during different activities: presentations, competitions, visiting radio stations, workshops, ARDF etc…

Twenty years ago, May 6 1994, the Channel Tunnel (Eurotunnel) was inaugurated.
A group of French amateurs set up the special event station TM5TSM (Tunnel sous la Manche).

YASME FOUNDATION EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The Yasme Excellence Award is awarded to individuals who, through their own service, creativity, effort and dedication, have made a significant contribution to amateur radio. The contribution may be in recognition of technical, operating or organizational achievement, as all three are necessary for amateur radio to grow and prosper. The Yasme Excellence Award is in the form of a cash grant and an individually-engraved crystal globe.

- To be translated - In het jaar 2000 ontving ARISS het voorstel om een ATV systeem te installeren aan boord van het ISS, meer bepaald in de Columbus module die men toen aan het ontwerpen was. In de loop van de volgende jaren werd dit project verder uitgewerkt en ook aanvaard door ESA. De eerste hindernis die hierbij moest genomen worden was het ontwerpen, bouwen en plaatsen van de geschikte antennes aan de buitenzijde van de Columbus module.
